The leaves are changing and there’s a crispness to the air. It’s time for Fall! Autumn brings cozy activities both indoors and outdoors but is also a time of change. With new school years and new activities getting underway, it’s easy to lose track of our self-care in the bustle. Here are some ways to take care of you this fall!

Stay Connected

As the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter the urge to stay home and scroll through social media gets stronger. Here are some ways to stay connected with friends and loved ones during the autumn:

  • Go pumpkin picking or to a local park to see the changing leaves. Getting outside in the cool air can help energize you and your friends.
  • Friday nights in Central Ohio are for football games. Even if you’re out of high school catching a game with friends can be a fun way to spend a chilly fall night.
  • Get cozy and have friends over to watch the latest show or movie on streaming.
  • Call or FaceTime a loved one that lives farther away to catch up on what might be new in both of your lives.

Get Creative

Fall can be a great time to flex your creativity and get crafty. Being creative can boost your mood and decrease stress. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing this fall:

  • Decorate your room or home with fall decor. Adding a touch of autumn to your living space can get you into the season’s vibes.
  • Carve pumpkins. Have some fun getting messy and creating funny faces or pictures on your pumpkin.
  • Try something new in the kitchen. One way you can let your creativity take control is to try this super fun charcuterie board demonstrated by our own Sol Tsonis.
  • Get spooky. Whether you’re prepping a Halloween costume or decking out your whole house in spiderwebs getting in the Halloween spirit can boost your mood.

Prioritize Rest

Fall brings changes and the business of new activities. Here are some ways to make sure you’re getting enough rest:

  • Try going to bed a little earlier. With the days getting shorter, try shortening your day so you can get more sleep at night. If you’re having trouble relaxing, check out this video.
  • Don’t fill every weekend with activities. It’s okay to take a break and have a chill weekend at home.
  • Take some time to unplug. Turning off your phone or notifications can give you a rest from the constant stimulation of social media.
  • Try meditation to help rest your mind. Click here for A Beginner’s Guide to Mindful Meditation.
